Chelsea Handler reflects on split from Jo Coy

Chelsea Handler has opened up about her former relationship with fellow comedian Joe Coy.

Brooke Shields’ “Now What?” In an episode of The Podcast published Tuesday, Handler said she really thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with Coe.

“I really believed this was my guy. I thought, ‘Oh my God, I won.’ Like I’ve got everything. I have my career, I have respect, I have family, I have lots of friends. I have all these things. And then I thought that this would be the person with whom I would spend my life.

Handler said she was open to the idea of marriage before the couple split after being together for about a year.

She added, “I’m not that hard to get married, but I was open to the idea of it, and we definitely discussed it in detail because it was important to him.” “And then, toward the end of the relationship, it became clear that this was not my person.”

She continued: “There were certain behaviors we couldn’t agree on. I felt like I had to sacrifice myself, which I probably would have been fine with if I was 20 or 25, but I wasn’t willing to do that. … No matter how much I loved this person — and I loved him a lot — I wasn’t going to give up on myself,” Handler said. “I’m not going to change the way I behave to make you feel more comfortable. I’m not doing that, and I had to walk away from what I truly believed was going to be a forever relationship.” Was gonna. So it was difficult.

Handler and Coy first met nearly 20 years ago, and he is Handler’s former E! show, “Chelsea Lately.”

They announced that they were a couple in September 2021 and split in July.

The two haven’t spoken recently, Handler said.

“He should have some accountability for what happened because it was just ridiculous, and I don’t think we can have a friendship until some accountability and some responsibility is taken,” she concluded.
