Officials said a mobile phone at the center of the investigation was his. home and allegedly pointed a pistol at them. The detectives fled the home and Susquehanna Township police responded to assist. The district attorney’s office said officers then heard a gunshot inside the home. When officers went inside, they found the man dead. The Pennsylvania State Police is investigating. The incident prompted the Dauphin County Department of Public Safety to issue a shelter in place order for nearby residents.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division of the district attorney’s office went to the man’s home on Beaufort Hunt Drive in Susquehanna Township around 11 a.m. Thursday to talk to him about his acquisition of child pornography on the Internet.

Officials said the man confirmed that one of the mobile phones at the center of the investigation was his.

After detectives took the phone for evidence, the man retreated further into the house and allegedly pointed a pistol at them.

The detectives fled the home and Susquehanna Township police responded to assist.

The district attorney’s office said officers then heard shots fired inside the home.

When officers went inside they found the man dead.

The Pennsylvania State Police is investigating.

The incident prompted the Dauphin County Department of Public Safety to issue a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents.
