Taylor Hawkins‘ Death looms large in the world of Foo Fighters in 2022 — but as the new year draws to a close, the band says they’re moving forward as a unit.
A message was posted to FF’s social on Saturday, serving as a tribute to their late drummer … who died overseas earlier this spring. It’s A Heartfelt Note Honoring Taylor, But It Also Feels Like A Hint For The Next Chapter Dave Grohl and co. As they are leaving in 2023.
His post read, “As we say goodbye to the most difficult and saddest year our band has ever known, we are reminded how grateful we are for the people we love and most of all cherish, and for those loved ones who are no longer with us.”
He explains that his band was formed 27 years ago as a representation of what he has been through as fans and peers – a musical community for people expressing all of life’s ups and downs… For which Foo Fighters say they are eternally grateful.
FF say, “Without Taylor, we never would have been the band that we were — and without Taylor, we know we’re going to be a different band going forward. We also know that you, fans, mattered as much as we did. Taylor as he mattered to you. And we know that when we see you again – and we will soon – he’ll be with us all in spirit every night.
In other words, the Foo Fighters are going to continue performing… and it appears they’re going to replace Taylor with percussion. Who that could be remains to be seen.
The band has been playing a number of shows over the past few months pay their respects to taylor … and a lot of drummers have come, that’s filled, including dave himself …and even Taylor’s own son, oliverstepped up during a performance,
Tribute shows have sprung up around the world, but now… it looks like the Foo Fighters are ready to turn the page. Obviously this is a difficult decision — while they could just as easily have shut the band down, the fact is … they are still incredibly popular and in high demand among music fans.
Tailor died in colombia in march, medical experts say there were several substances found in his systemand his death was reportedly treated as an overdose by the authorities there.
