Jeremy Renner suffered “blunt chest trauma,” with “extensive” injuries requiring a second surgery


Actor Jeremy Renner suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” following a snow plowing accident on New Year’s Day, a spokesman for the actor said Monday evening.

The spokesman said Reiner had surgery on Monday and “remains in the intensive care unit in serious but stable condition.”

“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses who cared for him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, the Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Shive, and the Carano and Murdock families,” read a statement from his spokesperson. “They are also very overwhelmed and appreciative of the love and support they have received from their fans.”

The “Hawkeye” actor has so far required two surgeries to repair the injuries sustained in the accident, a source close to the actor previously told CNN.

“His injuries are extensive,” he said.

Reiner was hospitalized in critical condition after being injured in Nevada, his publicist confirmed to CNN on Monday.

“As of now, we can confirm that Jeremy is in a serious but stable condition after suffering a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today,” Sam Mast said in a statement to CNN. “His family is with him and he is being very well looked after.”

Officers responded to a “traumatic injury” in the area of ​​Mount Rose Highway in Reno, according to a news release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, which previously said the Academy Award-nominated actor lived in the community,

The sheriff’s office did not provide details on the extent of Rainer’s injuries or what may have caused the accident.

A source close to the actor said that a statement is expected to be issued by his family on Monday evening.

Coordinated with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange medical transport of Rainer via care flight to a local regional hospital.

Authorities said Reiner, who stars in the Paramount+ series “Mayor of Kingstown” and as Hawkeye in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films – was the only person involved in the crash.

Rainer has posted several videos and photos on his verified social media accounts showing him in the snowy conditions.

A photo posted a year ago on his Instagram account shows a cluster of trees in an area with significant snow fall.

In a video posted two weeks ago and featured in his Instagram holiday highlight reels, Reiner is seen driving a snow plow with the caption, “Pave new paths, holiday adventures.”

Another video from a week earlier shows snow plowing with the caption, “The sledding hill for the kids is almost done.”
