Julian Sands: British actor identified as missing hiker

British actor Julian Sands, best known for his work on shows like “24” and films like “A Room with a View” and “Arachnophobia,” has been identified as a hiker missing in the Mount Baldy, California area since last Friday. Has been done. To the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Gloria Huerta, a spokeswoman for the department, told CNN that Sands was reported missing on January 13 at 7:30 p.m.

CNN has contacted representatives for Sands for comment.

Mount Baldy is located in the San Gabriel Mountains in San Bernardino County.

Huerta said search and rescue teams were searching for sand on the mountain, but bad weather and the threat of avalanches forced rescuers to suspend their search efforts.

Officials continue to use drones to search for the sand, but are limited with other resources because of the weather on Mount Baldi, Huerta said.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department recently warned climbers about visiting Mount Baldy, where high winds and snow continue to make conditions dangerous.

In a post on Facebook, the agency said that over the past four weeks, search and rescue teams have responded to 14 rescue missions on Mount Baldy and the surrounding area.

“These rescue missions are for lost, stranded and/or injured hikers. Unfortunately, during these past 4 weeks, two climbers did not survive after falling and injuring themselves,” the post said. Recent storms that have brought snow and ice conditions are not conducive to hikers, even those who feel they have a high level of experience.”

Sands’ other credits include films such as “The Killing Fields” and “Leaving Las Vegas,” and TV shows such as “Smallville.”

One of his most recent credits included a recurring role on Netflix’s television series “What/If”.
