The Jaguars will host the Chargers at TIAA Bank Field on Saturday in the AFC wild-card round

Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars will host the Los Angeles Chargers at TIAA Bank Field in an AFC Wild-Card Round matchup on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 8:15 p.m. ET.

It comes after the Jaguars’ big win against the Titans on Saturday night that propelled them to win the AFC South for the first time since 2017 — and fans are still celebrating the day.

Jaguars analyst Frank Frangi said in Saturday’s game that the defense and special teams were phenomenal. Now the team needs to maintain consistency.

Coming into Sunday, there were only two possible matchups for the Jaguars next week – both of which would be second matchups with a team the Jaguars defeated during the regular season: the Ravens and Chargers. The Ravens needed a win to clinch the No. 5 seed.

A 27–16 loss to the Bengals on Sunday locked the Chargers into the fifth seed. That means Los Angeles will trek cross-country to face the fourth-seeded Jaguars on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Frangi also said that apart from Trevor Lawrence, many players have had a hand in making the team successful.

“I think Trevor has been great offensively. He’s got a lot of help. Christian Kirk is the leader in that receiver room. He’s been great. Evan Ingram has had a great year as a pro. Jay Jones . I think all three receivers have been very good, as well as Travis Etienne,” Frangi said. I think running back, defensively some guys have really stepped up. Foye, the middle linebacker, has been great. He is a tackling machine. I think the best tackler in the league. Best linebacker in the league. He deserved to go to the Pro Bowl, and Rayshon Jenkins, the safety, had his best year.”

The Jaguars traveled to the West Coast earlier this year and it went pretty well for them. They defeated the Chargers 38–10, part of a 2–1 start to the season, a start that raised expectations for fans. Jacksonville was only 3–15 all-time in the Pacific Time Zone entering that game. This will be a matchup between two rising star quarterbacks in the NFL – Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence.

The winner of Saturday’s game will face the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round.
